Teaching Pastor David Sutton

I was radically saved at the age of 11 in my grandmother’s church. At age 17, I met Becky and began attending the Nazarene church in Parsons and was sanctified at 21. I have given my all to God and He has graciously given me ALL of Him. I Love the Lord with all my heart and wish to serve Him where ever He desires to lead.

My favorite foods are rhubarb and gooseberry pies. I enjoy wood working, computer games and solving puzzles/problems.

I accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ as a child at the Round Hill Baptist Church in 1972. I began attending the Church of the Nazarene in Friendswood, TX in 1976, joining in membership a few years later.  I was sanctified while attending Southern Nazarene University in 1983 and I surrendered my life to Christ and received the peace of the Holy Spirit.  I felt the call of God to become a deacon when I began the Joplin District School of Ministry and received my district ministry license in 2006.  Since then I have served the District NYI as the Teen Bible Quizzing Director and served as an Associate Pastor at the Mount Vernon Church of the Nazarene. I recently answered the call to be an Administrative Pastor at the Monett Church of the Nazarene. My wife Dawnata and I have two daughters; Jennifer and Kara, as well as a granddaughter, Colleen Jennifer Mudd.

I was saved at the age of 5. I grew up with a strong Christian mom who brought me up right. When I turned 14 I started hanging around some friends who drank so I started drinking also. At the age of 17 I was introduced to drugs and this continued until I was 21. It was an empty hollow life. On a drive through Fairview I was listening to a Christian radio station. I knew right then that God was what I needed to fill the emptiness in my life. Right then I decided I would LET JESUS BACK into my life.

Fixing cars used to be my hobby but now its witnessing, encouraging, and winning souls to Christ.

I was born in Carlsbad, California. My mom and dad both grew up in the area and my mom is still there to this day. I attended grade school and high school in Carlsbad.

While growing up in California, my grandparents would take me to a mission chapel in the barrio where my grandfather was the preacher. Here my mind was formed on the things of God and a seed was planted that would eventually give birth to new life.

In 1972, I moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to attend Bartlesville Wesleyan College. While attending college, I also worked at First National Bank during the night shift as a computer operator. It is here where I gained my early skills in the information technology field.

I participated in the Optimist Club as the treasurer. I also attended a church and then began meeting with a discipleship group that met in homes. It was at one of these meetings that I received the words “go and see.” I returned to Vista, California to work with a teen group at Vista Wesleyan Church.

After 5 years in Vista, I returned to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I worked at Westar Bank as a programmer until I moved to Monett, Missouri in 1991.

Since then I have lived in Monett and worked at Jack Henry and Associates, Inc., managing various software development groups throughout my tenure. I am also a servant-leader at Monett Church of the Nazarene where I enjoy teaching, serving on the leadership board, and supporting others on their journey with Jesus.

I live with my wife, Christy. We have a son and two daughters.

Although, I came to know Christ at an early age, I wasn’t always faithful to him. Several months ago, I re-dedicated my life to God, and I’ve vowed to trust in him, knowing his grace is sufficient and believing in him with all my heart. His word says in Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I grew up in a Christian home in Nebraska where my family went to church every Sunday.  I met my husband, Austin, in Kansas City during summer of 2005 and were married late spring of 2006.  I moved to Monett to be with Austin and started attending The Church of the Nazarene in 2007.  We have two daughters, Charity, Emi and a son – Ivan.  I stated working as the church secretary in 2008 and have absolutely loved the experience.  I am thankful for the grace and patience God has had with me.
